Real-time Phishing Exercise Training
A message from the VCU Information Security Office
Uh oh...You clicked on a phishing link and submitted credentials.
Don't worry; this is only a phishing test, but if this is a real phishing scam, then the scammers would have gotten your password and be able to steal your account.
Please remember to look out for the following signs of phishing:
- Check the sender's email address. Do you know the person, and are you expecting an email from him/her?
- Check the content. Does the email ask you to click on a link? If so, be extra careful with the email.
- Check the content. Does the email convey a sense of urgency? If so, it could very well be a scam.
- Check the link by hovering your mouse over or tapping and holding the link on a mobile device. Does the link go to a website that is the intended site?
- Before entering credentials on a website, check the URL in the address bar. Does the URL go to the intended site? (e.g., https://login.vcu.edu/ is a legit VCU login site).
